The Scottsdale Unified School District has 33 schools serving about 27,000 students. More than 3,000 persons are employed by the district, including about 1,700 teachers. The district is one of Arizona's most excellent school district, with 18 schools earning the state's highest rating, "Excelling". All Scottsdale schools are rated as "Performing", "Highly Performing" or "Excelling" by the Arizona Department of Education.
